Patti Spadaro’s anthem to living life with a purpose has been included on the current relix magazine cd sampler. I am humbled to consider that my playing will be heard by 300,000 subscribers and countless web visitors all over the planet. As musicians, we strive to perfect our art to reach out to others and to offer our thoughts and feelings through the universal language of music. With the accessibility of music through the internet, we can all potentially reach huge audiences with our messages. I hope the power of this technology can be utilized as a positive force in the world.

The Patti Spadaro “Bringing Me Back” CD has been delivered. My bass playing appears on five tracks and I added some 12-string jangle on one. This project taught me a great deal about the evolution of songs and the interplay among elements in a multitrack recording. I like how the songs developed from the embryonic guitar and vocal demos that Patti first laid down. Thanks to Brad Blackwood, the bass performances were well-preserved through the mixdown and mastering processes and the songs have retained their energy and dynamics. I hope the uplifting message of Patti’s songs reaches a broad audience with this release.

I’ve always been a fan of Barney’s playing. Though I was aware of his jazz pedigree, and associations with Charlie Christian, Bird and Oscar Peterson, I just discovered some amazing facts about Barney’s days as a Verve Records company executive and his connections to Elvis, Phil Spector, the Beach Boys and others. You can read his entire bio here
